A Maggio e Giugno andra' in scena a teatro greco di Siracusa l'Edipo Re.
Ma cosa narra la tragedia?

l’Edipo re tratta dunque della fragilità dell’esperienza umana, che può passare, in breve tempo, dal massimo del carisma alla più abissale delle abiezioni.

 Edipo re) è una tragedia di Sofocle, ritenuta il suo capolavoro, nonché il più paradigmatico esempio dei meccanismi della tragedia greca. La data di rappresentazione è ignota, ma si ipotizza che essa possa collocarsi al centro della attività artistica del tragediografo (430-420 a.C. circa).

L’opera si inserisce nel cosiddetto ciclo tebano, ossia la storia mitologica della città di Tebe, e narra come Edipo, re carismatico ed amato, nel breve volgere di un solo giorno venga a conoscere l'orrenda verità sul suo passato: senza saperlo ha ucciso il proprio padre per poi generare figli con la propria madre. Sconvolto da queste rivelazioni, che fanno di lui un uomo maledetto dagli dei, Edipo reagisce accecandosi, perde il titolo di re di Tebe e chiede di andare in esilio.

  Oedipus the King) is a tragedy by Sophocles, considered his masterpiece, and the most paradigmatic example of the mechanisms of Greek tragedy. The date of performance is unknown, but it is assumed that it can take its place at the center of artistic activity of the dramatist (430-420 BC).

The work is part of the so-called Theban Cycle, which is the mythological story of the city of Thebes, and tells how Oedipus, king of charisma and loved, in the short space of one day come to know the horrible truth about his past, without knowing it, he killed his father and then have children with her mother. Shocked by these revelations, that make him a man cursed by the gods, Oedipus reacts accecandosi, loses the title of king of Thebes and asked to go into exile.
